A little piece of Paris arrives at the new Palihotel Westwood Village

It’s no secret that Los Angeles (and greater California in general) is awash with Spanish influences. You can see it in the architecture, the street and city names, and even the ever-evolving culinary landscape. So it’s become almost commonplace to expect a degree of Spanish-flavoured design across LA’s hospitality scene. But in a refreshing turn of events, this newly opened boutique hotel in Westwood Village seeks to stir things up by adding a shade of Parisian elegance to the area.

A new addition to hotelier Avi Brosh’s Palihotels stable (the fifth property in Los Angeles alone), the hotel is the result of a joint venture between Palisociety and Shamina Investments. Housed in a historic 1939 building that was formerly the Claremont Hotel, Palihotel Westwood Village spans three storeys and 55 beautifully furnished rooms.

Designed to blend a range of mid-century and Parisian influences, the hotel’s exterior and interior has been renovated in Palihotel’s signature eclectic style.  As far as location goes, it’s perfectly situated to explore nearby Westwood Village, UCLA and the Wilshire Corridor; plus Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Brentwood, and Santa Monica beyond that.

Although your first glimpse of the property may be its white exterior, red-and-white striped awning and perfectly manicured hedges; inside the hotel, it’s a different story.

The elegant lobby features its own standalone reception vestibule made from timber and glass, and beyond that you’ll find an elegant waiting area, complete with parquet wood flooring, chic lounges and glass coffee tables.

Anchored by a large Osamu Yakonami print and offset by whimsical paper lantern lights, the palette is a calm blend of dove grey, canary yellow and creamy neutrals.

There’s also a shared kitchen area that plays host to a daily continental spread of pastries from local LA bakery Röckenwagner, jars of fresh granola, yoghurt, fruit, and snacks. The kitchen also serves Nespresso coffee all day.

Set up for communal lounging, there’s even a magazine stand stationed nearby to encourage hotel guests to hang out in the public space.

The space features many peaceful places to sit, work and dine by the windows, which face out onto a beautiful central courtyard teeming with natural light and leafy plants.

You can just imagine settling in at the tables and chairs on a sunny day, taking in the quiet ambience of the trickling water fountain.

Guest rooms are similarly furnished in calm shades of caramel, taupe, grey and cream.

Contrasted by black wall lights and a glossy black Smeg fridge, you’ll find different details in each room, such as chevron patterned wood flooring or hexagonal clay tiles.

Bathrooms are outfitted with luxurious Carrera marble countertops, quirky art and custom Palisociety amenities.

Thanks to such careful attention to detail, the entire hotel’s warm and cosy aesthetic is one we can really get behind. We can’t wait to book a visit.
