What they’re wearing at the Emmys 2019 after parties
And just like that, the 71st annual Emmy awards have wrapped for another year, and what a memorable show this year’s ceremony proved to be.
Kicking off with a red carpet that boasted not only loved look after loved look, and a very clear preference for colour pairing, there were also a number of stand-out singular pieces—including Laverne Cox’s bespoke acrylic clutch which doubled as a political conversation starter, and Sophie Turner’s Louis Vuitton diamond necklace which boasted a 945 diamond count—all of which marked this year’s red carpet as one for the award season books.
Continuing on the memorable moment roll sparked by pre-show activities, the ceremony itself provided many powerful points. Michelle Williams’s acceptance speech highlighted her personal experience with the prominent gender pay gap that still exists, Billy Porter’s win made history since he was the first openly gay black man to win in his category for Pose, Patricia Arquette made a plea for trans rights in the wake of her sister Alexis’s death, and When They See Us star Jharrel Jerome’s shouted out the real-life Exonerated Five, who were each in attendance, in his own acceptance speech.
But once the final award was presented, show attendees—and winners with their trophies in tow—shuffled out of the Microsoft Theatre and made a beeline for a number of Emmys after parties.

With award show formalities wrapped for the day, and nerves well and truly quashed, each after party—including the Governor’s Ball, and parties hosted by Disney, HBO and Amazon—provided the opportunity for winners, nominees and guests alike to slip into something slightly more comfortable as they stepped out of the ceremony.
Walking their respective red carpets, many after party guests, including Mandy Moore, Zendaya and Sophie Turner, took the opportunity to pare down their Emmy ceremony outfits, while others, such as Emilia Clarke and Michelle Williams’s, kept their red carpet gowns on post-show.
And once they crossed the carpet, attendees kicked off celebrations, with three-time award winning Phoebe Waller-Bridge posing for pictures at the Amazon party with one of her awards in hand, Game of Thrones family members, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke, dancing together to Salt-N-Pepa’s Push It at the Netflix party, and Amy Poehler and Natasha Lyonne clearing the same dance floor for Beyoncé’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It), as reported by People.
