Keane shuts down Carra over Liverpool-Man Utd comparison

Roy Keane issued a typically feisty response after Jamie Carragher compared Liverpool and Manchester United in the Sky Sports studio.

The Red Devils lost 2-0 to West Ham on Sunday to leave them ten points off Liverpool and five points adrift of Manchester City after only six matches.

The Sky Sports pundits were discussing United’s current situation and how far they are behind arch-rivals Liverpool and City.

Following Sunday’s results –  that also saw Liverpool beat Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge – Carragher told his fellow pundits: “I said before about when I was at Liverpool and we were trying to catch Chelsea and your [to Roy Keane] Manchester United, it’s never as bad as you think.

“Sometimes you just need two or three players, now, can you find them?

“Luis Suarez came to Liverpool and for four or five years we were finishing sixth and seventh like United are.

“We almost won the title once Suarez came in, sometimes just that one player can make a difference.”

To which Keane responded: “You said almost win a title? You didn’t win a title.
