Inside the Ferrari F8 Tributo party in Sydney

On August 28, over 300 guests converged on Sydney’s White Bay passenger terminal for an immersive Ferrari experience, unfolding in a luxurious setting worthy of the Italian sports car brand’s stature.

With an impressive span of over 2000 square metres for guests to explore, the room was filled cars in their dozens, mimicking a sea of the brand’s iconic shade of red—a fitting colour scheme considering the event’s tribute to the most powerful V8 in Ferrari history, and its concurrent Australian launch of the Ferrari F8 Tributo.

Grazing on cuisine that’s as inherent to Italian culture as the cars being celebrated, guests had a classic aperitivo bar ready and waiting to serve San Danielle prosciutto and hand-rolled grissini, in addition to a roaming caviar bar courtesy of Simon Johnson, which was also on offer. As guests sipped on Negronis and flutes of GH Mumm champagne, Ferrari Australasia’s chief executive, Herbert Appleroth, delivered his welcome speech.

“We are extremely proud to bring the much anticipated Ferrari F8 Tributo to Australian shores,” said a visibly excited Appleroth. “This vehicle pays homage to our history. The F8 Tributo brings the exhilarating performance of the best 8-cylinder in the world to all drivers, with unprecedented handling and superior ride comfort.”

Following the official welcome, VIP guests—including comedian and author Celeste Barber, Lindy Rama-Ellis, model and Ferrari ambassador Kate Peck, presenter Julie Stevanja, founder and CEO of Style Runner Ash Williams, and model Matilda Dods—perused the birdcage-style area, which featured possibly one of the largest floral installations, created by acclaimed artist George Low, ever to be seen.

Within the same space, guests also had the opportunity to weave their way through over $3 million dollars’ worth of classic Ferraris, including a number of cars also brought in by private collectors, and the newly-launched F8 Tributo, which was presented to the audience following Appleroth’s speech.

In addition to his words, chief executive officer of Ferrari Far East and Middle East hub—Dieter Knechtel—echoed the same excited sentiments: “We truly expect this stunning new Ferrari V8 Sports car to become the dream car for clients and fans around the world”.

Knechtel added that, in his well-informed option, “the Ferrari F8 Tributo truly embodies the pinnacle of Italian excellence and the V8 engine is seen as the very epitome of sportiness and driving pleasure,” painting an idyllic image of the next big thing in Italian sports cars.
