Chelsea block Monaco move for midfield flop
Tiemoue Bakayoko’s loan move to former side Monaco has been blocked by Chelsea chief Marina Granovskaia.
Chelsea are looking to recoup most of the £40million they paid for the midfielder in 2017 but are thought to be holding out for an approach from a more high-profile side.
Granovskaia is concerned that the Ligue 1 side are not a big enough club to showcase his value, reports RMC Sport.
Bakayoko enjoyed a good season on loan at AC Milan last term before a falling out with former manager Gennaro Gattuso prevented a further season with the rossoneri.
The Frenchman seemed to tell Gattuso to “f*** off” in an argument on the touchline against at Atalanta.
Bakayoko is thought to be way down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, with the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley, Matteo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek fighting it out for the central midfield positions.
A deal to Monaco could yet be on the cards, should more lucrative deals not materialise.
The French side are looking at Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina as another midfield option.
