Our Biggest PW Daily Ever: ALL IN Exclusives, Bullet Club Supports Punk, Cena/Nikki, Russo Drama, MITB & More
Cody Rhodes and the Young Bucks held a press conference on Sunday to hype tickets going on-sale for their collective brain child, and what is now undeniably the most anticipated event of the year – ALL IN. The trio was joined by Marty Scurll, Hangman Page and Hangman Page, with a special surprise appearance from Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. Flip Gordon also made a cameo dressed in disguise as a member of the “Flat World Press”, but instead of finally getting himself booked for the show, he was unceremoniously slammed through a table.
In the biggest announcement of the afternoon, lucha libre legend and former WWE Champion Rey Mysterio was officially confirmed for ALL IN joining the likes of Jay Lethal, Pentagon Jr., IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Deonna Purrazzo and many more.
Billy Corgan also announced that the “10 Pounds of Gold” will be on the line, as Cody Rhodes challenges for the NWA World Heavyweight Championship in the first match officially announced for the show. There’s a lot of history behind that booking decision.
35 years ago Jim Crockett Promotions took a major leap to run a show called Starrcade, something that many at the time considered to be a huge financial mistake. Instead, they drew a $500,000 gate and single-handedly changed the game for professional wrestling on closed-circuit television. Two years later, the American Dream defeated Ric Flair to win the very same title that his son will challenge for on September 1st. Only time will tell if ALL IN can so instrumentally change the game in the same way.
Tickets went on sale for the show at exactly 4PM ET and were completely sold out by approximately 4:29PM ET. Fans trying to purchase tickets online were sent to a virtual “waiting room” while those on the phone with the Sears Centre in Chicago waited on hold for the rare chance of actually reaching an operator. Just eight minutes into on-sale, those who were lucky enough to make it through only had the option of seats in the upper levels.
There was some online backlash from fans who claimed the low ticket prices (something Cody and the Bucks did specifically to make the event more accessible for everyone) led to an overwhelming amount of scalpers, but the reality is there are far more secondary market tickets available for WWE Money in the Bank, running next month in the same market, as there are currently for ALL IN more than three months away.

First they broke up. Then reports said they were getting back together. Then Nikki had to move on because Cena never wanted to have kids. Then everything was fine and it was just the stress of TV cameras being on them all the time that made Cena second guess getting married. Then Nikki moved in with Brie and Daniel. Then Nikki was supposedly spending her evenings at Cena’s house despite the fact that Brie lives on the other side of the country. Then Cena was supposedly sleeping with Smackdown Women’s Champion Carmella. And now Cena wants to have Nikki’s babies.
Is anybody else confused?
Our fearless managing editor Nick Paglino sounds off on the ridiculous, obviously scripted (and poorly, might I add) relationship between Cena and Nikki that is turning more and more into a Kardashian nightmare every single day. But seriously, has anyone even seen an episode of Total Bellas? They are the worst people.
Money in the Bank
Ronda Rousey appeared at the NBC Upfronts Monday with Stephanie McMahon, Charlotte Flair and RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax. They recorded an angle where Jax actually challenged Ronda to a match for the title at next month’s WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view. “Rowdy” actually turned it down at first, playing the babyface card and claiming that because she’s only had one pro match, there are other women on the roster who deserve a shot first. After some goading from Charlotte, the former UFC icon officially accepted the challenge, making the bout official.
As far as Money in the Bank Ladder Match competitors, we saw both Bobby Roode and Kevin Owens qualify on WWE RAW this week, and Alexa Bliss qualify for the women’s ladder match. Here’s the updated PPV match card.
Vince Russo Strikes Again
After Vince Russo was announced for Starrcast and then immediately pulled, Cody Rhodes issued a statement telling the controversial WWF and WCW creative writer to “stay away” from ALL IN weekend. In an interview we conducted with Cody over the weekend, he stated that Russo’s name has been caught up in drama with homophobia and other problematic issues in recent years, and that he was not welcome at his show this September. Russo then exploded with a 40-minute rant on his Twitch channel. We’ve got the full story AT THIS LINK if you need to catch up, as well as the original interview we conducted with the American Nightmare.
