Liverpool are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon left-back Nuno Mendes, who is valued at around £60m, according to reports.

The defender joined Lisbon in 2012 when he was just ten-years-old. He has been capped at every youth level for Portugal from U16s up to the U21s.

The youngster made his professional debut for Lisbon in June 2020. He came off the bench in a win against Pacos de Ferreira in the Primeira Liga.

Mendes has made 32 appearances for the Portuguese outfit in all competitions since making his debut. He has also recently established himself as their first-choice left-back.

Liverpool reportedly attempted to sign the 18-year-old last summer, but Sporting Lisbon blocked the move from happening.

Since then, Mendes has become an important player to them and he signed a contract extension in December 2020.

With Mendes, Lisbon currently sit nine points clear at the top of the Primiera Liga. They are yet to lose in the league from their 21 games so far.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo have revealed that Liverpool will target the defender again this summer. His new contract has increased his release clause to just over £60m.
