Real Madrid aiming for Spurs to extend Bale loan until 2022
Real Madrid are hoping Spurs will extend the loan spell of forward Gareth Bale until 2022, according to reports.
The Welshman has had a turbulent first season back in North London.
He’s managed just nine Premier League appearances and has been badly affected by injuries.

The player has recently turned his fortunes around after receiving criticism from pundits earlier this term.
He put in a man of the match performance against Burnley on Sunday, scoring two goals and assisting one more.
Bale was also Spurs’ liveliest player during their 2-1 loss to West Ham in the previous match.
According to The Sun, Real are hoping his upturn in form will convince Spurs to extend his loan spell.
They want Bale to remain at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for another season.
That would help the Spanish giants to keep his massive weekly wages off their books until the end of his contract.
Bale’s current deal expires in June 2022, so Spurs could keep him on loan before signing him on a free transfer.
The solution would end Bale’s troublesome time in the Spanish capital and poor relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane.
Bale looked to be past his best towards the start of the Premier League campaign.
He started the season with knee problems and was regularly used as a substitute.
However, Bale began to repay Spurs by scoring twice in the Europa League against Wolfsberger AC in consecutive matches.
He was the star against Burnley during Spurs’ 4-0 win. The forward tapped home the opener following a ball from Heung-Min Son.
He then sent a brilliant shot past Nick Pope later in the game as his team cruised to victory.
Bale earns a reported £500,000 a week as part of his Real deal. That means Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will have to assess their financial situation before extending the player’s stay.
But if his exciting form continues then it could be a gamble worth taking for the North London side.
