Amad Diallo has named the two Manchester United stars who can be “reference points” as he sets out his targets at Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old was confirmed as a United player last week after the club agreed an initial £18million transfer in October.

He has only played a handful of games for Atalanta and will need support as he starts his career in England.

And Diallo has named Eric Bailly and Paul Pogba as the two players who he hopes can help him through the transition.

“Absolutely, Eric will be a definite reference point for me,” Diallo told the official club website. “I’ve actually already been in touch with him over the last few months and we’ve been chatting.

“I’ll be asking him for advice and will be listening to all he says, and also the other players who speak French and Italian like [Paul] Pogba for example, he will be another good reference point for me.”

Despite his tender age, Diallo is confident in his ability and dreams of winning the big trophies with his new side.

He added: “I’m a little bit too anxious to say this given it’s just the start [of my time here] but my dream is to win the Premier League and the Champions League with Manchester United.

“That is my aim and goal.

“My family has always been there for me and supported me along the way. As soon as the opportunity came for me to join United they obviously gave me great support. They are proud of me and I thank them a lot.

“I’d like to say a big hello to all the supporters around the world of Manchester United and I cannot wait to start my experience here.”
