Ederson looks set to miss out on Manchester City’s Premier League meeting against Chelsea on Sunday due to him undergoing a period of self-isolation.

Man City were forced to call-off their game at Everton on December 28th after there was a COVID-19 outbreak in their camp.

There were worries that their game on Sunday against Chelsea would also have to be postponed. But the tie at the Etihad is set to go ahead.

Chelsea v Man City: One big game, five big questions

Pep Guardiola revealed ahead of the game that he will be without five players for their meeting against Frank Lampard’s side.

The Spaniard broke this news during his recent press conference, which has been cited by Manchester Evening News:

“It was four people – [including] two players – the first time and then three more. I don’t think the Premier League allows us to name the players but you will know [this weekend].”

Kyle Walker and Gabriel Jesus tested positive for COVID-19 on Christmas Day, so they are two of the players out. It appears as if Ederson has revealed that he is the third.

The goalkeeper posted a picture of himself on Instagram on New Year’s Eve, and the caption read:

“I just prepared for this photo. My New Year’s eve is isolated.”

Ederson will definitely be out of the game against Chelsea. The Brazillian will likely also miss City’s Carabao Cup semi-final against Man United on January 6. His availability will depend on when his 10-day isolation period began.
