The 2019 tour dates of the Lexus Melbourne Cup have been announced

This year, the Melbourne Cup’s trophy is once again going on tour, heading to 39 destinations from July 4, before it gets handed to the winner of the big race at Flemington Racecourse, traditionally on the first Tuesday in November.

In its second year as principal partner of the Victoria Racing Club and naming rights sponsor of the Lexus Melbourne Cup, Lexus Australia will deliver Cup Tour experiences and thoughtful storytelling on a national scale – building hype for the highly-anticipated Lexus Design Pavilion, best known as the centrepiece of spring carnival action.

Lexus Australia is also celebrating the Making of Amazing, a multi-creative journey that will see elements of the Lexus Design Pavilion, together with its collaborators, revealed via installations of grandeur by a series of florists, chefs, artists and musicians.

“Lexus is thrilled to be entering its second year as naming rights sponsor of the Lexus Melbourne Cup, and 17th year of our relationship with the VRC,” Lexus Australia CEO, Scott Thompson, told Vogue.

“We see Australia’s most prestigious sporting and social event, the Lexus Melbourne Cup and the Cup Tour, as an opportunity to show you the lengths we go to, to create experiences that inspire and surprise you, which precedes this years Making of Amazing,” he added.

The first Making of Amazing installation was brought to life at the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour announcement, through the powerful surround sounds of custom-made Mark Levinson speakers in the Lexus range on display. A live performance by DJ Ben Downing, drummer Samuel Gazis and The Players Club, who will also be performing at the 2019 Lexus Design Pavilion, also took place.

When the tour was announced, Lexus ambassador Megan Gale entered the stage at Flemington Racecourse with the Cup. “It’s an honour to launch the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour at Flemington Racecourse,” she said.

“The Lexus Design Pavilion is truly remarkable, and being able to share that with Lexus customers and guests, along the Cup Tour for this year’s Making of Amazing, rightly celebrates Lexus as a luxury lifestyle brand,” Gale continued. “I cannot wait for the 2019 Lexus Melbourne Cup Carnival – the glamour, hospitality and entertainment.”
