Fernandes ‘exasperated’ with Greenwood; Man Utd issue response
Mason Greenwood angered Bruno Fernandes after one incident during a poor Manchester United training session last week.
It was reported on Monday that United were growing frustrated with Greenwood, who was ‘failing to understand’ the ‘process’ that the club had put in place.
Concerns were aired over the 19-year-old’s sleeping habits and lacklustre training, which have been reinforced on Tuesday.
The Times claim that Greenwood ‘performed poorly’ during one session last week in a ‘sluggish’ session.
He was subsequently left out of the squad that travelled to beat Everton, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer citing illness as the reason.
But Greenwood is said to have ‘exasperated’ Fernandes in particular ‘over his failure to run on to a pass’ – less than a month after annoying coaching staff.
United have denied any ‘argument’ between the pair.
The Daily Mail go further, stating that there was no ‘exchange of words’ between the pair whatsoever.
They do reiterate worries with regards to his reported lack of sleep and ‘time-keeping’.
‘United are said to feel that Greenwood needs to focus on his development as a footballer,’ it is added.
Solskjaer rubbished some speculation with regards to Greenwood in October, stating: “He’s never ever late for training. I’ve seen some ex-United players talking about him and they don’t know what they’re talking about.
“He’s got a good family behind him and he’s a good trainer. I cannot believe all these stories about him not being professional.
“That’s something we have to deal with many players, many other players at United have had that.
“I’m not concerned at all with Mason making a target for himself.”
