See every red carpet look from the Big Little Lies season 2 premiere in New York
The highly-anticipated second season of hit HBO drama/mystery based on the novel of the same name by Australian author Liane Moriartyis set to premiere on Foxtel on June 10 here in Australia. Ahead of that date, HBO held a premiere screening of the first episode of season two in New York overnight and with such an A-list cast it’s no surprise the premiere was a star-studded event.
All the ‘Monterey’ mothers we fell in love with in the first season walked the red carpet, along with new cast members, other celebrity fans of the show and even one cast member whose character died in the first season.
Reese Witherspoon, who plays Monterey mum Madeline Mackenzie in the show, attended the premiere with Ava Phillippe, her 19-year-old mini-me daughter with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe. The duo turned heads with their incredible likeness which even extends to how they pose for photos.
Nicole Kidman, who plays another Monterey mum, Celeste Wright, attended with her real-life husband of almost 13 years, Grammy-winning artist Keith Urban. The couple looked so loved-up on the red carpet and even managed to sneak a moment backstage together to sing a duet, which Kidman posted a video of to her Instagram account.
The rest of the Monterey crew, Zoë Kravitz (Bonnie Carlson), Laura Dern (Renata Klein) and Shailene Woodley (Jane Chapman) were also in attendance and having a ball together, exactly how we imagine this cast always rolls off-screen.
Three-time Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep, who joined the show for season two in the role of Kidman’s mother-in-law, stepped out for the event, looking just as thrilled to be with this elevated group of ladies as they were to have Streep in their midst.

Alexander Skarsgård made a surprise appearance, leaving many to wonder what this means for the second season. In season one of the show, Skarsgård’s character, Kidman’s on-screen husband Perry Wright, is killed, is he back? We’ll have to wait until June 10 to find out, but in the meantime, enjoy the Big Little Lies season two premiere red carpet, below.
