Brady clarifies Liverpool “null and void” Premier League comments
Karren Brady has attempted to clarify her “null and void” comments that have caused outrage, particularly among those associated with Liverpool.
The Hammers vice-chairman made the claim after the Premier League was suspended for at least three weeks after the coronavirus outbreak.
Brady said in her column for The Sun: “As games in both the PL and in the EFL are affected, the only fair and reasonable thing to do is declare the whole season null and void,” which was printed in the Sun.
“Who knows who would have gone down or come up if the games have not actually been played in full?
“A huge blow to Liverpool who might be robbed of their first title in 30 years.
“This will be discussed between the Premier League and the clubs next week at an emergency meeting.”
Brady came under fire for the comments, especially with West Ham potentially benefitting with them battling against the drop.
Taking to Twitter on Sunday, Brady attempted to clarify her comments: “Everyone agrees that LFC deserve to win the title. PL & EFL are doing all we can to ensure the season is finished. Including suspending games, isolating players, and if required playing games behind closed doors and into the summer months.
“My point was safety of fans, players, staff come 1st & if the remaining games just cannot be played the only fair & reasonable thing is to declare season null and void. Who knows who would have gone down or come up if the PL/EFL games have not actually been played in full?”
