60 Sick Dogs Saved, 1 Found Dead In Puppy Mill Arrest
WEBSTER COUNTY, GA –Sixty sick dogs were saved and one was found dead in a Webster County puppy mill arrest Tuesday.
The owner of the dogs, Glenda Albritton, 71, surrendered herself to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office for charges of felony aggravated cruelty to animals and misdemeanour cruelty to animals. Bond was set at $65,000.
On Oct. 30, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office met with Terrell County Animal Control, Department of Agriculture personnel and officials from the Oakland Veterinary Hospital at 801 Pear Orchard Rd., Parrott, Webster County, after police receieved information about a possible puppy mill.
During a search of the property, approximately 61 dogs were located in two buildings. Of the 61 dogs located on the property, one was found deceased. The dogs were found living in unsanitary conditions and with extremely matted hair, according to the Webster County Sheriff’s Office. The dogs were seized by the Sheriff’s Office and transported to Terrell County Animal Control in Dawson, Ga.

The Atlanta Humane accepted 40 of the dogs from Terrell County Humane Society who were seized from the property.
The dogs, mostly Yorkie and Havanese breeds, are suffering from various medical conditions, many have heartworm and nearly all have matted fur, according to the Humane Society. The dogs range from 7 months to ten years of age.

“The dogs not being brought to the Atlanta Humane Society were too ill to move and are receiving medical treatment through Terrell County Animal Control,” said Christina Hill, director of marketing and communications for the Atlanta Humane Society.
“Grooming and medical assessments are the immediate concern,” she said. “We will put each on an individualized medical plan and place them up for adoption as each individual animal is medically cleared.”
The dogs arrived at the Atlanta Humane Society Mansell Campus around 3 p.m. Friday.
