B.A.A. and marathoners in midst of new
registration process for

2012 Boston Marathon. ®

 

Qualifiers may submit application for entry from

Monday, September 19 through Friday, September
23.

 

BOSTON – The first week of the B.A.A.’s new registration process for the
2012 Boston Marathon is now closed. For the second week, anyone who has met
their qualifying time may submit an application for entry beginning Monday,
Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. ET and continuing through Friday, Sept. 23 at 5 p.m. ET.
Entry is NOT first come, first served, and accepted entrants will be informed
at the conclusion of this period. The official web site to submit an
application for entry is

“We
are very pleased that the opportunity to enter the 2012 Boston Marathon remains
open to yet more athletes who have trained so hard and run so well over the
past 18 months,” said B.A.A. Executive Director Tom Grilk. “It is
both humbling and motivating to us at the B.A.A. that people want to come run
in Boston.
Everyone who qualifies for the Boston Marathon has our enormous respect, and we
appreciate the cooperation marathoners have displayed through the
implementation of our new registration process.”

 

The
verification process of qualifying performances for those who submitted an
application for entry into the 2012 Boston Marathon through 10:00 p.m. ET on
Saturday, Sept. 17 is in progress. Email notification of acceptance and posting
of names to the “Entrants” page of
www.baa.org will be forthcoming for
those among this group. This step necessarily occurs after the conclusion of
each stage in the new registration process which the B.A.A. has implemented.

Due to
field size limitations, it is probable that not all qualifiers who submit an
entry during the second week (Sept. 19 ‰ÛÒ Sept. 23) will be accepted.
Those both accepted and not accepted for entry also will receive an email from
the B.A.A. at the conclusion of the application period.
