October 4, 2019 0 By HearthstoneYarns

You’ll be delighted to know many of your favourite celebrities now publish their own podcasts, which have become a popular way to easily digest content on the go, whether for leisure, information, or inspiration. Celebrity-produced content ranges from the expected celebrity news, gossip and insights into their A-lister lives, to politics, art and literature, and even deeper delves into what it means to be human, female empowerment, health issues, and philosophy.

The added bonus of celebrity-produced content? Celebrities are friends with celebrities, and have great pull power in bringing important initiatives into the limelight. Podcasts featuring special guests are more akin to a casual catch-up, meaning you get insight into candid content that’s produced in a natural environment.

And the variety of celebrities will thrill you: everyone from reality favourites Oprah, RuPaul and Snooki to comedians Anna Faris and Russell Brand, on-screen stars including Alec Baldwin and Dakota Johnson to models-turned-activists Ashley Graham and Adwoa Aboah. Below are a selection of the best celebrity podcasts available to stream today, old and new, to tune into.

Goop.

The C Word.

Under the skin with Russell Brand.

Influential members in academia, philosophy, pop culture and the arts join Brand’s inquisitive exploration of our complex world, asking ‘what is beneath our reality?’

Anna Faris is Unqualified.

One of the most successful celebrity podcasts is the brainchild of funny girl actress, Anna Faris. Generally split into two parts, Faris conducts a guest interview – including some comedic banter and questions surrounding hypothetical dating scenarios – before calling a listener to provide some ‘unqualified’ relationship advice. Faris returned only a couple of days ago after a short break from her regular podcasts – so binge on the old ones, and then settle in for some brand new content.

Amy Schumer presents: 3 Girls, 1 Keith.

Amy Schumer’s podcast is promoted as being like a dinner catch-up with your besties – if your besties included Schumer and her equally hilarious pals Bridget Everett, Rachel Feinstein, and Keith Robinson. Armchair expert with Dax Shepard.

The messiness of being human – a factor we can all relate to – is the centre of Dax Shepard’s podcast, stemming from his love for hearing stories and four years of anthropological study. Twice a week, Shepard invites guests (including artists, academics and politicians) to share their personal stories, with an aim to celebrate life’s challenges and the lessons we can learn from them.

The Left Ear.

Around late 2018, Dakota Johnson shared a phone number on social media and invited women and girls to call and leave a voicemail sharing their stories of violence, harassment and gender based inequality. The result? A compilation of these women’s stories – powerful and confronting, but incredibly important.

No topic is too taboo – from relationships and sex to challenging questionable cultural and institutional norms, and addressing head-on the issues faced by young girls everyday, Aboah and her guests ‘talk, share, listen and take control’.

Here’s the thing with Alec Baldwin.

Award-winning actor and father to one of our favourite It-Girls, Alec Balwin, takes listeners every fortnight into the workspaces and dressing rooms of public figures – be they celebrities, artists or politicians – to glean an insight into what they do and what motivates their work. Broadcasted on a public radio network, Baldwin and his team aim to understand what motivates people and provide a platform for innovative ideas.

Call Chelsea Peretti.

might have concluded in 2017, but the series provides 5 years worth of laughable content from the comedian and actress. The star centres each podcast around interacting with callers on set weekly themes, and in the absence of callers, she simply clowns around.
